On narrow screens, scroll the workspace horizontally to reach its panels. FilmCraft 0.6.0 by ArtCraft · Self-hosted under MIT / Apache-2.0 · License. Exports share your 6 free videos per UTC day.

Import a local video into the media bin, drag it onto the timeline, then trim or grade it. Saved projects preserve the FilmCraft timeline and locally stored source media. Keep your originals: browser storage is not a backup.

The self-hosted Web build runs on this device. It is an independent hosting of ArtCraft’s open-source editor, not the official ArtCraft website.

LESS FRICTION. MORE CREATING.

From raw clip to ready to share.

THREE SIMPLE STEPS
01

Drop your video.

Start with a file from your device. Your video stays right here, in your browser.

02

Make your edit.

Cut the extra seconds. Find the right frame. Add the finishing touch.

03

Take it with you.

Preview your result, then download a clean file. No watermark. No sign-up.

A LITTLE KNOW-HOW GOES A LONG WAY

Your guide to filmcraft free.

01

Free Video Editing, No Subscription

The browser entry is free to use and does not require a subscription or account. It follows the same simple allowance as the rest of the site: six successful video-processing tasks per browser each UTC day. Reaching that allowance should not remove a result you already created or turn a clean export into a paid upgrade.

02

What You Get for Free

A useful free editor must let you make a real change and keep the result. The FilmCraft workflow includes the timeline, trimming behavior, and color controls needed to work on an edit. Begin with a small source and verify the finished output rather than judging capability from the number of visible buttons or panels.

Timeline, Trim Modes, Color Grading

Use the timeline to arrange material and locate a cut. Trim modes can affect neighboring clip boundaries differently, so compare their behavior against the scene you want. Color grading changes the image’s appearance; preview several frames so one pleasing still does not hide overexposure or an unwanted cast elsewhere in the clip.

Export Without a Watermark

The site does not add a brand overlay, advertising card, or branded soundtrack to the exported result. Check the output in another player to confirm the actual picture and sound. A logo that was already present in the imported footage is separate and remains unless you deliberately apply an appropriate edit to remove or hide it.

03

FilmCraft Free vs The Desktop Build

The desktop and browser versions operate in different environments even when they originate from the same project. A browser may handle local files, codecs, and resource-intensive processing differently. Use the official release information to understand a specific build, and run a representative import-edit-export check on the actual device you plan to use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is FilmCraft free?

Yes. This first release provides free access with six successful tasks per browser per UTC day, resetting at 00:00 UTC. There is no payment, trial clock, or point balance. Failed and cancelled processing do not count as successful exports. Downloading an existing result again does not use another turn.

Does the free version add a watermark?

No site watermark is added to an export. Text or graphics you deliberately place in the edit remain part of your chosen composition. A pre-existing source logo is not automatically erased by selecting a free editor. Use a suitable crop, blur, or cover operation when you have permission to change that mark.

Can I use FilmCraft on a Chromebook?

A Chromebook runs a browser rather than the desktop builds named for other operating systems. The web workspace is the relevant entry, but codecs, memory, storage, and the particular task still need checking. Import a small representative clip, make an observable edit, and play an actual export on that Chromebook before relying on a larger project.

05

Start Editing Free

Open the FilmCraft browser workspace to begin with your local media. Keep a copy of the source, learn the timeline with a small project, and save an exported version when it is useful. For a single quick operation, the focused tools can provide a shorter path while retaining the same clean-export and privacy principles.

06

Use the Timeline for a Concrete Editing Job

Choose a small project that reflects what you really want to make: two takes in order, one refined cut, and a restrained color adjustment. Import the real media and verify each change through playback. A free editor is useful when you can keep the actual result, so include an export in this first session rather than exploring every panel before checking that last step.

Learn the effect of a trim mode on a short section with clear movement. Watch whether the cut changes only a boundary or also affects neighboring material. Compare a color adjustment before and after, including shadows and highlights, then restore or refine it. Keep the source clips accessible so a later session can reopen the project. If the job is only reducing one file’s size, use the focused Compress tool instead; a complete timeline is helpful for connected edits but can be unnecessary for a single delivery adjustment.

07

Review the Exported Result

Inspect the real exported file for the expected clip order, boundaries, color changes, sound, and duration. The result should contain your edits without added site branding. On a Chromebook or another target device, perform this check on that actual device rather than substituting an unrelated desktop browser. If memory or a codec prevents completion, keep the failure and the source intact. Do not treat a screenshot of the timeline or a local sample from another platform as proof that your intended project can finish. A successful small test is useful evidence for the next editing step, not a guarantee about every larger project.

08

Keep the Source and the Version You Need

A project record and a downloaded media file serve different purposes. The record keeps the chosen tool and editing settings so you can return to recent work. The media file is the actual result you can play or share. Browser storage can retain media when permission and available space allow it, but it is local to that browser and may be cleared. Keep the original source and download important versions instead of treating the recent-project list as a permanent archive.

If a saved record asks you to reselect the source, choose the matching original rather than an unrelated file with a similar name. Check the restored parameters against its duration and dimensions. When continuing in another tool, use the actual finished result if the next operation should build on the changes already made. Starting from the original again would discard those changes unless you deliberately apply them again.

09

Recover From an Interrupted Edit

If a task cannot finish, first read the specific message and preserve the source. An unsupported codec, invalid range, model-download failure, and insufficient working storage need different responses. Retry only after correcting the likely cause. For a large or unfamiliar recording, try a short representative section that includes the difficult motion or audio; this checks the real operation without requiring a complete long export.

A failed or cancelled process is not a successful result and should not consume the daily allowance. Keep any previous usable download while retrying. After changing the source or parameters, confirm that the preview identifies the current file and the next export uses the latest settings. An old result should never silently become the answer to a new request.
